☀️ 'Manipura' is the fourth in a series of seven signed limited edition prints inspired by each of the seven Chakras as defined by Hindu spiritual traditions. The Chakras, whether real or not, help us to focus on, connect with, and learn to express different aspects of who we are.

☀️ Manipura translates from Sanskrit as 'resplendent gem'. It is considered the center of dynamism, inner fire and achievement. Located at the solar plexus it radiates energy throughout the entire human body. 'Ram' is the mantra associated with this chakra, as well as the animal that represents it. The ram’s horns are found in the design, and I have also depicted butterfly wings, as this chakra embodies the power of transformation.

The third-eye may be something mythical in nature but it does actually exist in some lizards as a light sensitive gland on the forehead, also known as the parietal eye. This is directly related to the equivalent pineal gland within the human brain. The pineal gland produces melatonin which modulates sleep patterns with regards to the circadian rhythm and seasonal cycles.
