By researching court documents of historic trials and prosecutions, Johnny portrays the evolution of LGBTQ+ subcultures and the timeline of our visibility, filling a blank space in art history and portraiture painting where queer lives have not been represented. By combining contemporary practices with classical inspirations, Johnny marries past and present with glamour.
