The title 'Himinglæva'  was one of nine daughters of the Goddess Rán in Nordic mythology, whose names all reflected different characteristics of the ocean waves.

After a DNA test by the artist revealed him to be 9.1% Scandinavian Roper decided to connect with his ancestral roots. His home town is called Knutsford, named after the Danish Viking King Canute, and his whole family is from Yorkshire, derived from the Viking name of Jorvik, it only seems right that his work eventually started taking on the spirit of the Old Norse seafarers.
